Ang angas mo, Jonnel!

Here's a video of Jonnel Sasis showing that he can still rock with a plastic yoyo. Using DUNCAN Freehand 2, he can do advance and complicated yoyo tricks.

Jonnel is one of the best players in Cavite. He won two basic contests before, DUNCAN Sports Ladder by FlipSpin and Cavite Christmas Basic Yoyo Contest in 2009. That’s why his style is really smooth and clean.

Next time, I’ll try to make a video every month featuring yoyo players. Expect more action in the next months.

FlipSpin at Jensen’s Christening

Last Sunday (December 18 2011), the FlipSpin guys attended the christening of Joebert Flores’ cute daughter, Jensen Elijah Flores. Joebert is the 2009 Philippine National Yo-Yo Champion, my team mate in String Cola and of course our very good friend in FlipSpin.

The baptismal ceremony was held at Santisimo Rosario Parish Church in EspaƱa, Manila.

Edmund, Paul, Kyle, Preslie and Paolo are Jensen’s godfathers from FlipSpin. Joebert’s daughter is very lucky to have good and kind godfathers.

Here some the other photos taken at the baptismal ceremony and reception.

Congratulations again to you, Joebert, for having Jensen in your life. We wish more blessings and good health for your daughter.

The Perfect Yoyo For You

Few days to go and its Christmas time once again. It is the season where many of us have lots of money to buy gifts, new stuffs, foods etc.

And now, many of us are planning to buy new yoyos but the number one problem is which one is the best yoyo for you to buy.

Whenever I’m online in facebook, I always see questions asking “What is the best yoyo?”. Some of examples of these questions are;

“Which of the two is the best for 1a, Raptor o SFX?”
“What yoyo is good for SLACK play?”
“What is the best yoyo for 5a?”
DUNCAN Hayabusa or YoYoJam Fiesta XX?”
2a yoyos: Modded Raider/Fireball or Loop900?”

Honestly, there are a lot of good yoyos that we can buy today. There are a lot of varieties and hundreds of choices to choose. Every yoyo has different identity like some yoyos are good for SPEED, yoyos best for LOOPING, most durable yoyo for playing 4A and many more. With these options you can possibly know which one is the best for you.

But before you buy and get a yoyo, here are my useful tips for choosing the perfect yoyo for you.

Tip #1 Your Wants
Knowing what yoyo you really wanted to have. Just simply choose the yoyo that you are interested. You can choose a lot from different brands and types of yoyo. You can also choose a specific yoyo that your favorite player is using. There’s no limit for choosing as long as you can afford to buy a lot of yoyos, its okay.

Tip #2 Your Preference
Think of what are the qualities of a yoyo that you are looking for and what will suits to your playing style.
Do you prefer V-shape or round-shape yoyo? Heavy or light weight yoyo? Do you like yoyos that are best for grinds? Standard size yoyo? How about undersize yoyo? You want a bi-metal yoyo? Plastic or metal yoyo?
Base your preference for choosing the yoyo that you want to have.

Tip #3 Know the Specs
You can found in the internet the specifications of a yoyo that you are interested. You can see it also in the webpage of the yoyostore. It indicates there the size, weight, shape and the other specs of the yoyo and you can see the photos of it.

Tip #4 Read the Reviews
One of the easiest to do before makes a decision. Just read the feedbacks of the people who have tried the yoyo first. I usually do this if there is a new yoyo that I’m interested is out in the market.
Just search at the online yoyo forums like yoyonation, yoyoepert, theyo etc. for the review of the yoyo that you are looking for. The reviewers post their observation about the play of yoyo if it’s good or not. Sometimes they also write their comments about the durability of the yoyo.
I recommend checking yoyoskills.com and singaporeyoing.com. These two blogs post yoyo reviews especially YoYoSkills.

Tip #5 Try the Actual Yoyo
You can ask the other players to borrow if they have the actual yoyo that you are interested to have. Play it and know if it really suits to your preference. Just be careful on playing the yoyo because you’re just borrowing it to give it a try. And also ask to owner and others who have tried it to know their reviews and comments about yoyo.

It is not really hard knowing what yoyo you really want to have. There are many of good yoyos to choose and you only need to know your preference then find the perfect yoyo for you. Hope these tips help and made it easy for you to choose.J

Thanks for reading! :D

JK's Blog

Hello everyone!!!

Welcome to my blog :)

I decided to create this blog to post my thoughts in my mind, write my personal opinions in different things,  and of course the number one reason I created this is to help the growing yoyo community here in the Philippines by sharing my knowledge about yoyoing.

I'm gonna post many tips and advice in yoyoing, stories, travel and many more in the coming days.
